My friend wants to join my mindbodysoul cleanse class.
She’s yearning for a new start –
a supportive way to move from this (junky food, excess weight, sluggishness) to that (clarity, lightness, peacefulness).
But she’s worried her son won’t eat the pure food she’s nourishing her body with.
She asked me if I’ll address how to feed family members who aren’t cleansing.
I think I surprised her with my answer:
“For three weeks, what I eat is more important than what they eat.”
(although the class is six weeks long, our nutritional cleanse is only three weeks)
This means that dinner may be takeout pizza – more than once a week.
Or Nutella on toast.
Sometimes, whatever they can rustle up without my help.
Some of my kids love some of my cleanse foods some of the time,
hash browns, veggie soups, guacamole and cauliflower curry,
and that’s a beautiful bonus.
All year, I think about what my family will eat.
I’m the primary food planner, shopper and preparer in our house.
And I (mostly) aim to have a nutritious meal that everyone will eat each night for dinner.
This is no small challenge – we’re six people, who range from vegetarian to hard core carnivore, and serious health nut to junk food junkie.
I don’t take it too seriously anymore – they’re all thriving and I’m grateful for this.
And I also don’t take it at all seriously if they get to overload on fast food while I nourish and detoxify my precious body, mind and soul for three weeks twice a year.
Here’s how I look at it:
For forty six weeks of the year, it’s largely about them,
with healthy doses of self care thrown in for me.
For six weeks it’s all about me.
I create a retreat for myself in my own home.
That’s the beauty of this cleanse that I do –
it’s designed so that you can continue all your regular activities
AND create space to repair, heal and rejuvenate.
I benefit immensely from my cleanse:
I’m clearer, I’m more energetic, I’m happier –
honestly, the best way to describe it is that I’m shinier in every way!
And
lucky them.
They benefit from a mom who is shiny
which, as I set the tone in our house, results in all of us laughing more, dancing more, connecting more, shining more.
Everyone wins when I nourish my mind, body and spirit.
How do you feel when you think about prioritizing your own nourishment for three weeks?
Mind. Body. Soul.
You first.
If your heart starts to sing with joy, mindbodysoul cleanse is for you.
If you feel a bit guilty or afraid, mindbodysoul cleanse is DEFINITELY for you!!!
