We can’t escape this fact – our stomach has no teeth.

If we want our food to be optimally digested and assimilated and then eliminated, it needs to be well masticated.

Almost to a liquid state.

I know this sounds kind of gross.

Or at least to my kids, who don’t love me talking about bodily functions.

Which I really love to talk about!!!

Because I love the idea of us having the power to optimize our health and vitality

no matter what physical conditions we are presented with.

How we digest, assimilate and then eliminate our food has a huge impact on our health.

First step is to chew it.

A lot.

I notice that I typically chew each mouthful about 4 times.

Far less than the recommended twenty that I’ve practiced at meditation retreats.

Twice a year, I create my own retreat for myself in my own home.

I eat simple clean foods.

I meditate every day.
I pay attention to what I’m thinking, feeling and doing.

It’s my wellness plan.

I find that when I cleanse, I discover which parts of my life are ready for change.

It’s effortless and natural.

I don’t need to think about it, or set an intention.

When I clear away the clutter of my crazy life for a few weeks,

What’s no longer serving me becomes apparent.

My clients have experienced this post-cleanse effect too.

Some have lost their desire for caffeine and diet soda.

I no longer have any interest in alcohol.

It’s usually subtle.

We always think we’ll continue eating our cleanse foods forever.

Because we feel so energetic and optimistic,

our hair and skin is shiny

and we’re so thin.

But we usually don’t.

We usually succumb to the lure of cookies, or chocolate.

Which is as it should be.

Cookies and chocolate are delicious.

But each time, we are changed.

Body, mind and soul.

So much so, that we never revert all the way back to our previous habits.

We may regain a bit of the weight we lost.

But not most of it.

We will eat some of the food we found isn’t optimal for us.

But not all of it.

We may behave mindlessly some of the time.

But we always remember that still pure essence inside of us.

We may spin in toxic thinking at times,

But we remember that we are not those thoughts, and sometimes we’ll even remember not to believe them.

This time, what’s  evolving for me
is that chewing my food until it’s almost liquid feels necessary
and lifegiving.
It’s so easy to do.
And, while I may not remember to do it every time
I know that the experience will stay with me
And add to the many actions I take daily to ensure that I am living my very best life in the best possible body I can create.

My next cleanse will begin next Thursday, and I would love you to join us.
