I’m in Imperial Beach with two of my favourite colleagues, Deb on the left and Suyin in the middle.
We’re staying in a wonderful beachside condo and planning our business for the coming year.
Or trying to.
We seem to be doing a lot of beach walking and dolphin searching!
We wandered into town today in search of lunch.
We’re all weight loss coaches, and so we’re committed to eating foods our bodies love, and only when we’re hungry.
So this is what that looked like today:
1. I brought along a bottle of green juice, because I’m hoping to heal some digestive issues with fresh vegetable juices.
2. We checked out the fish restaurant at the edge of the pier, and Deb ordered the fresh mahi mahi plate. Suyin didn’t want to eat there, so the three of us sat outside and enjoyed the view, the sea air, and each other, while Deb enjoyed her lunch.
3. Then we explored a bit more, and Suyin decided she was going to order tacos from the local taco place – they make their tortillas from scratch!!!
4. I sipped my juice as we wandered.
5. While Suyin was ordering, Deb and I found a local coffee place and ordered our cappuccinos, met up with Suyin, and the three of us sat outside in a different spot alternately eating, drinking, not eating, not drinking, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves.
No wonder we aren’t getting too much work done!!!
Here’s the marvellousness about this:
At no point did anyone feel uncomfortable that they were eating or drinking alone.
At no point did anyone feel obliged to eat because someone else was eating.
At no point did anyone have any feelings at all about what anyone else was or wasn’t eating.
We talked about this, and what a miracle it was, because all three of us have had our own food and weight struggles, and so we all remember the many times we ate food our bodies didn’t need, because we thought that we ‘had to’ in order to be social or to feel part of the group.
We know that we can be part of the group just by choosing to be part of the group, and participating in the conversation, and deciding to feel connected to the people in the group. No matter whether you’re eating or not.
And, we know that you can be eating and drinking with the group, and still feel disconnected sometimes.
I often invite my clients to go out for a meal with other people, and not order a thing. If you are searching for freedom from food, I highly recommend you try this. It will bring up all your food issues I promise!!! And once you’ve done it, and dealt with your own internal reactions, and your companions’ external reactions, you will have liberated yourself from any connection you have made between eating together and connecting together.
It’s a brilliant weight loss strategy, if I may say so myself 🙂
I’m happy to report that I have two new spots opening in June for individual coaching with me, and if you want freedom from suffering over food or your size, I can help you. Let’s talk.
