A client told me that she thinks I’m so brave to put myself out there in my blogs.
I wasn’t always so brave about self-exposure.
I used to think secrets were for keeping.
Especially the ones that made me feel embarrassed or weak.
Or fat.
Yep. Keeping secrets can definitely make us fat.
They weigh on us a lot, you see.
And because our bodies are connected to our minds,
Heavy secrets actually turn into excess weight.
My foray into putting my worst self forward started with coaching groups.
I exposed myself for purely selfish reasons.
I wanted to get coached. Personal coaching.
And to do that, you have to tell what you’re struggling with.
To the whole group.
I explored what would happen if I told the truth
And for me, it was…. nothing.
Nothing changed when I told the truth.
The truth was still be the truth.
And also
Everything changed
Because I was no longer carrying a hidden heavy load of shame.
Phone and forum classes are a great way to start
Because you’re in your own home,
And you don’t even have to say your name or show your face.
Because I wanted coaching from these amazing coaches,
I would just spill my secrets all over the phone line and the forum.
And here’s what happened:
I got unbelievable coaching
I learned so much, shifted so much,
Dropped so much excess weight, physical and emotional.
AND
No one rejected me, or thought I was weak, or embarrassing.
They learned from me and were inspired by me
And they offered me help.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Secrets, when locked up inside us, in dark airless places
Become moldy, multiply, grow; take up space in our bodies.
Once we expose them to fresh air and light,
They kind of dry up and evaporate
And with them, so does a lot of real excess weight.
Sometimes our eating struggle is really us using food to clamp down that moldy dark space inside us.
This is what we explore in weight loss coaching
We talk about our pain and our secrets way more than we talk about what we eat and how much we weigh.
Really, we’ve all talked about that too much for too many years.
In coaching we learn to reveal our truths.
We learn what a relief it is when we have a safe space to do that.
And then we learn that as long as we believe we are safe, we can do it all the time.
And then we find that excess weight releases itself from our bodies
Because we’re no longer using food as the key to lock our secrets away.
Ready to try it?
My three month program The Season of You is a perfect playground for this exploration.
It’s intimate, it’s long enough to go as deep as you want, and it’s starting next week.
I have a few spots left so sign up now and prepare to feel lighter in every way.
Who knows? You may lose much more than your weight.
I’m planning for some hidden fears, self-hatred, and self-criticism to be released at the same time.
