In the car with my hubby today
sending emails on my very old Blackberry Curve.
Man I loved this Curve when I got it.
I was just starting out as a solopreneur
and my Blackberry and laptop were my new toys.
I loved the idea of taking me and my laptop out for coffee and calling it work.
And I’m perpetually grateful for a business that doesn’t require me to be anywhere
which means I can be anywhere.
But my dear old Curve is ready to be retired.
Was ready 6 months ago
when I replaced her for a shiny new Blackberry Bold.
I dreamed of being even less encumbered.
I could leave my laptop at home and manage all my forums from my phone.
And then I drowned her.
Two weeks after I got her.
And now my cell phone company wants me to pay $850 for a new one.
Begging and threatening hasn’t budged them.
My friend Suzy sent me off to Fone Depot
dreaming of an android for $200.
ooh.
love at first sight.
every sense tittillated.
smooth white case.
big clear bright screen.
responsive keyboard that knows when I need it and disappears when google appears.
plays my favourite songs for me.
OK maybe it doesn’t taste as wonderful as it looks
but I can taste how much I want it.
$400
oops.
I forgot to tell them I was here to spend $200.
and after my Samsung Galaxy II infatuation
the $200 phones looked very wallflowerish.
So in the car I told my husband.
“The next client who pays me $400, I am buying my love affair.”
Here’s the thing: I didn’t say “hopefully someone will hire me and then I’ll buy the phone”
I didn’t say “I’m wishing for a new client so I can buy the phone”
Both of those feel wistful, needy, unsure.
I said it like I knew it would happen.
This, I have found, is the crux of Law of Attraction.
What we’re thinking doesn’t matter.
It’s how we’re feeling about what we’re thinking we want to attract.
That’s the level that the Law of Attraction works at.
If you vibrate certainty and eager anticipation
that’s what you’ll attract.
If I had vibrated neediness and lack,
I’d still be needing and lacking my new cell phone.
As we left our meeting,
my dear old Curve informed me that someone had just signed up for both my upcoming Season of You class AND My Child’s Gaining Weight. What am I Doing Wrong? class.
Total payment: $ 388
And this is the amount I am going to convince the nice Fone Depot man to take for my new boyfriend. er. cellphone.
(You may be wondering “what’s with the picture of the ridiculously gorgeous silver laptop case in the picture?” I attracted it in exactly the same way back when I was a fancy health care consultant who dressed up and went to hospitals and needed a fancy accessory to match her laptop – saw it at the One of a Kind show. So so so expensive. I told my friend, as if it were a fact, “I will buy this when I get my next client”, and sure enough, I did.)
P.S. the answer is Nothing. You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re the perfect mother for your perfect child. And I am going to convince you of that in our class!
